About

Dr Michaela Schmidt studied veterinary medicine at the Veterinary Highschool in Hanover, Germany.

Michaela has worked in a variety of practices in Germany and the UK that specialise in small animals and thoroughly enjoyed the rewarding results the acupuncture was having on her patients. Micky expanded her skill set learning about holistic therapies like homotoxicology, homeopathy, biomolecular therapy and Bach Flowers.

Due to the overwhelming success of these treatments she began working with horses, both sport, hacking and race horses.

In 2003, Michaela established her own holistic practice in the UK. She specialises in acupuncture and other holistic therapies for small animals and horses. She also introduced reiki, which assists the healing process and calms the animals.

Acupuncture is typically carried out with needles. Since 2008 a low energy laser has been available and is proven to be a better experience for the animal as it reduces any discomfort caused from the insertion of the needles. That makes the treatment in sensitive animals much easier.

A new treatment modality is Low Level Laser Therapy, using a state of the art cold laser, which switches diseased tissue back to normal.

Michaela has attended conferences and workshops in the USA, to name AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association) and IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) which keeps her knowledge up to date.

Michaela’s philosophy is to use the best combination of holistic therapies to make the patients experience as comfortable as possible and to increase the overall quality of life.
